Adding Dynacharts to Dashboards

As their name suggests, Dynacharts are dynamic visualization panels available in Moovila's dashboards at the portfolio and project levels. Below are the steps for adding Dynacharts in dashboards.

  1. In either the Project Portfolio or at project level, click on the View icon, then select the Dashboard view from the dropdown menu.

  2. The Dashboard view opens. Click on the edit icon to add a new Dynachart panel.

  3. The Edit Dashboard dialogue opens. Click the Add Panel icon to add a new Dynachart panel.

  4. The Dashboard Panel Editor opens. Click on the dropdown menu to select the type of panel you wish to add. Choose a DynaChart from the listing. In addition to the name, these are indicated by a lightning bolt icon.

  5. The Dashboard Panel Editor opens, displaying the following options:

    a. Panel Type: The panel type chosen (in this case, the Expense DynaChart) displays here.
    b. Custom Filter Settings: Click this button to modify the data that is displayed within the dashboard. The Filter Expense Analyzer will open. From here you can choose a filter scenario from the dropdown if desired, deselect expense categories, or click the Filter button on the category to modify the data displayed.

    An additional Filter panel will open, allowing you to select the data that you wish to display. By default, all data within this category will be displayed. Click Apply to save changes.

    c. Auto Title Toggle: When turned on, this feature will automatically create a title for this DynaChart panel based upon the what data is to be displayed in the chart. Turn the toggle to off to enter a custom title.
    d. Panel Title: When the Auto Title is turned on (which is the default setting), this field will auto-populate. When it is turned off, a custom title may be entered.
    e. Description: Enter a description for the panel, if desired.
    f. Shaping Templates: Choose a shaping template from pre-configured (or previously saved) chart settings.
    g. Value: Click into this dropdown to choose an available numerical data types to will be used in the DynaChart. (In this example, we are looking at expenses.)
    h. Targets: In this dropdown, optionally select a pre-established target associated with the value. (In this example, we are using Project Budget by Resource Type). This target will appear as a dotted line in the DynaChart, displaying the variance between the target number and the actual value.

    i. Group + Subgroup: Select a group from the dropdown menu. In this example, we've chosen Resource Type, so will be seeing expense data grouped by resource type. If desired, a sub-group may be added as well. When sub-grouping has been applied, additional options for chart type will appear.
    j. Sort Setting: This setting determines the way that the bars of the chart will be sorted--alphabetically, or by ascending/descending values.
    k. Values in Data Set: This option serves as a filter to limit the data displayed in this chart based upon how the data is grouped. In the example above, we're grouping by Resource Type and then Resource. These filters would allow us to exclude specific resource types or resources from the data that appears in the chart.
    l. Chart Layout: When the DynaChart uses subgroups, choose between stacked and grouped display options.

    m. Chart Date Range: Enter a date range here to limit data shown in the DynaChart to a specific time period.
    n. Apply: Click Apply to save all changes and proceed.
  6. Once all settings are as desired, click Apply to proceed.

  7. The new DynaChart now appears in the dashboard.

    Click Save to confirm the addition of this panel to your dashboard.
