To view a task's details, click it. The task expands.
On the Task Detail screen, the following information can be viewed:
- Nudge / Recognize: Send quick messages to the team about a task to either Nudge (follow up on a task that is overdue or whose status is unclear) or to Recognize (deliver acknowledgement of a job well done).
- Refresh Messaging: Click to check for new messages in the chat panel.
- Name: The task's name appears here.

Task Status: Shows the status of the task as indicated by the owner or assigner. Tasks may hold the following status categories:
Not Started
In Progress
Blocked
Cancelled
Completed
If you are using the ConnectWise integration and custom statuses have been enabled for your organization, your custom statuses will appear here as well, each appearing next to the task status category to which it has been associated. - Task % Complete: This pie chart indicates how complete a task (50% indicates that a task is half-way done) is and can be updated by clicking it and selecting the appropriate percentage.
- Milestone: This diamond indicates whether or not a task has been designated a Milestone (a key deadline in the project). Milestones are used to mark important dates, not for completion of work.
- Priority: Displays the level of priority associated with this task (Low, Normal, High or Critical).
- Description: Details of the task appear in this field.
- Owner: The person responsible for completion of this task appears here in addition to the team associated with this project.
- Project: The project to which this task belongs.
- Project Phase: The phase within the project in which this task lives.
- Customer: The customer associated with this task. If a customer has been added at the project level, they will display here. If not, a specific customer may be associated with this individual task.
- Start Date: The date that work is scheduled to begin for this task.
- Due Date: The date by which the work in this task must be complete.
- Lock Dates: By default, the Critical Path is allowed to manage start and due dates based on the completion of predecessor tasks. Click here to lock the start and due dates, leaving them unchanged by the Critical Path.
- Duration: This field represents the number of days available to complete this task (taking into account weekends and holidays).
- Work Estimate: This field displays the time or effort the assigner or owner estimates it will take to complete the task.
- Schedule: Currently available to users with an MSP license, this field displays the number of scheduled events associated with this task. Learn more about scheduled events here.
- Time Log: Displays any time logged against this task. Click into this field to add/edit time.
- Time Clock: Click on this icon to begin a time clock entry for this task.
- Steps: Captures a list of detailed steps that must be taken in the completion of this task. These steps can be marked complete as work on the task proceeds. Click on the steps count to view, edit, or add steps.
- Attachments: Captures any related documents or files associated with this task. Click on the attachments count to view, edit, or add attachments.
- Notes: Captures notes specific to this task. These notes may then be viewed at the project and/or portfolio levels to track progress, issues, or anything noteworthy.
- Resources: Click to view the resource allocation for this task as it relates to the project's budget. Additional resources may be added via this dialogue as well, and will then be displayed in the project's budget.
- Skills Required: This field displays a count of the required skills associated with this task. These are the certifications or skillsets that the ideal resource for this task would possess. Click to view these skills and add/edit.
- Dependency Map: When this icon is clicked the Dependency Map for the task is opened displaying any predecessor or successor task. When the icon appears in black, the task is a part of the project’s Critical Path. Learn more about the Critical Path here.
- Resource Type: The resource type indicates the job role associated with this task.
- Cost Code: Select a cost code from the dropdown menu of cost codes associated with the project to which this task belongs. Learn more about cost codes here.
- Billing Code: Select a billing code from the dropdown menu of billing codes associated with the project to which this task belongs. Learn more about billing codes here.
- Creator: The user who created this task and a timestamp of when it was created.
- Assigner: The user who assigned this task and a timestamp of when it was assigned.
- Changed By: The user who most recently changed this task and a timestamp of when it was most recently changed.
- Reference Number: Displays a customizable reference number.
- Record ID: Displays the system-generated number associated with this task from its first creation. This number cannot be modified.
- Completed By: If this task has been marked complete, the person who completed it will display here.
- Completed Date: If this task has been marked complete, the date upon which it was completed will appear here.
- Apply / Cancel: Click Apply to save all updates to the task. Click Cancel to cancel all updates to the task.
- Messaging: This instant messaging tool allows real-time communication on the project. Project participants (including extended users) can be messaged using this tool, and a record of all communications will be maintained, until manually deleted.
- Send Message: Click on this icon, or use the return key to send a message.
- Attachment: Click on this icon to include an attachment in the conversation. This attachment appears only here, it is not added to the attachment library for the project.
