As the project is being built out, it might become apparent that there are several phases that will have similar tasks and structure either in the current project or in other projects in the organization. To save time in the creation of the project, copying those phases may make the most sense. To duplicate phases:
- Click on the More Options icon in the upper navigation of the project whose phase you wish to copy.
- The dropdown menu opens. Select Duplicate a Phase to copy the desired phase within this project. See step 6 below to learn how to duplicate and move a phase, copying it to another project.
- Select Phase to Duplicate dialog opens to choose which phase to duplicate.
- The Confirmation window opens. Click Yes to proceed with the duplication of the phase and any tasks or sub-phases associated with it.
- The copied phase now appears at the bottom of the project with all of the detail (task owners, durations, descriptions, dependencies, etc.) included. Update the names of the phase and tasks as needed to differentiate from the originals.
If you wish to move the phase elsewhere within your project, click on the Reorder icon in the upper right navigation.
Click on the Reorder icon for the phase you wish to move and drag + drop it to its new location.
- To copy a phase and move it to another project (or to a specific place within the current project), select the Duplicate and Move a Phase option from the More Options menu.
- The Duplicate and Move a Phase window opens. Click on the Phase to Duplicate button and select the phase that you wish to copy from this project. Click on the Target Parent Phase button and select the destination for this duplicated phase. First choosing the project and then the specific location within that project. (Note that this may be in the same project if you wish to copy and move a phase to a specific location within the current project).
- Once the desired phase to be duplicated and target phase have been selected, click the Duplicate and Move button.
- The copied phase will appear in the indicated destination.
