Time tracking dashboards provide project managers and operational leaders with a real-time view of project effort, billable work, and resource utilization. Rather than reviewing individual time entries one task at a time, dashboards aggregate time tracking data into meaningful summaries that help teams monitor project health, budget consumption, and delivery progress.
Within Moovila, these dashboards can be created at project, project portfolio and task levels, allowing users to analyze time records from different perspectives depending on their role and reporting needs.
There are several key metrics to keep in mind:
- Work Est.: The total number of hours scoped. This is different from the duration, which is the number of days granted for the work to be completed. For example, a task may require 3 hours to complete (work estimate), but it may be completed over the course of 2 days (duration).
- Work Est. Balance: The number of hours remaining for this work based upon the estimate and the number of hours logged (Work Estimate - Time Logged).
- Work Remaining: The number of hours of work outstanding. This number is based upon the work estimate and the percent complete indicated. For example, a task is estimated to take 10 hours to complete (work estimate) and it has been marked 50% complete. The work remaining will be 50% of those 10 hours, so 5 hours. (Work Estimate x Percent Complete)
- Time Logged – Actual hours logged against project tasks.
- Billable Hours – The total of logged time marked billable.
- Billable Hours Balance – The remaining billable hours available before reaching the project's scoped budget. (Work Estimate - Billable Hours)
Below are details for recommended time tracking dashboards at the Project, Project Portfolio, and Task levels. For more information on building dashboards and adding layouts, watch the video Creating Dashboards. Note that these are great starting points, but can always be tailored to your organization's needs, so keep that in mind as you're looking at the filters and date ranges.
