As projects evolve, sometimes budgets must evolve as well due to shifting costs, timelines, etc. Here's how to adjust budgets in projects.
- Open the project whose budget will be updated and click on the Resources icon in the upper menu. If there are any unaddressed discrepancies in the project, a count of those discrepancies will be highlighted alongside the icon.
- The Resources panel opens. Note that the discrepancies are listed in the top Intelligent Budget Control panel, and also flagged below. In this example, we have one task that was added to the project including a resource that has not been factored into the budget (denoted with the orange flag), and more hours than originally accounted for have been added to the HR Consultant resource (denoted with the red flag).
- Click the Add to Budget and/or Increase Qty buttons to accept proposed changes and update the budget accordingly. If you do not see the Action column, it will need to be added to the view via the Column Header icon.
- Once added to the budget, rows can be edited--adding resource types, unit costs, etc. Click Save to keep changes.
